Sundown begins the Jewish high holy day of Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement. After the end of Yom Kippur, our names are either sealed in the Book of Life, depending on our contrition and G-d’s forgiveness (progressive interpretation). So to our friends and neighbors who will be observing this Yom Kippur, may you be written and sealed for a good year.

For the remainder of us, Yom Kippur is an opportunity for each of us to look not inward, but from other’s perspectives towards ourselves. Whom have we wronged this past year and not made amends? Now is as good time as any.
