Spending America’s 250th “birthday” at the First African American U.S. President’s Library/Center on the Southside of Chicago was nothing short of my ancestors wildest dreams. This center is truly where hope lives. Intentional is the only word I can find to describe it.
It’s one of those places you can’t see in a one day, so make the trip, take the time, and feel the love while you’re here.

I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to pour into Tulsa youth through the Thunder Fellows program these past 10 months… As a Tulsa native that has been a lot of places and done many things in my career, I felt the pull to share what could be if they took their current dreams and dreamed bigger using my experience (good and bad) as an example.

Each student grew for the better in their own right, and I can hardly wait to see where life takes them.

Ain’t nothing wrong with being from Tulsa, and there is always pride being from The Town.

With America’s 250th “birthday” right around the corner, the MAGA movement fighting for relevance, prosperity preachers in the pulpit preaching a grift, POCs chasing proximity to Whiteness, and Black Americans (descendants of the enslaved) figuring out where we go from here based on the work of ancestors and documented history, this book is necessary for the time.

I’m three chapters in America, U.S.A.: How Race Shadows the Nation’s Anniversaries and can tell you, our great grandchildren will study this book and what we do as a society to fight the current harm will be studied too.

When people talk about Greenwood or Black Wall Street, it centers around what was lost (which is necessary and we gotta keep up the pressure), but we rarely talk about families that never left or left and came back after the massacre…

That’s what made the inaugural 100 gala so special. Meeting so many fellow descendants and learning their stories, sharing our experiences, all while putting our money where our mouth is as we did over 105 years ago.

My heart is full, but there is still work to do.
