A wonderful morning at AFT ID as we helped start a new musical journey for Aeon Underwood! 🎻

Today, Aeon received a cello and music stand of her very own. She is learning to play, and it was such a joy to see the excitement on her face as she received her instrument. There is something special about watching the spark of a new musical journey begin. ❤️🎶

Awards like this don't happen because of one person—they happen because of a community that believes every student should have the opportunity to make music.

A huge THANK YOU to our donors, partners and volunteers who make this possible. Melissa Hembre donated this beautiful cello, and LIFE Senior Services donated several music stands. Our donors also provide the funds that allow us to clean, repair, set up and prepare instruments for their new owners.

And speaking of volunteers… Robyn Coleman, our Treasurer and AFT-ID String Instrument Specialist, put her hands to work preparing Aeon's cello—cleaning, setting it up and restringing it so it was ready for her today. This is what it means to keep the train rolling! 🚂🎶

We also debuted our newly designed AFT ID award certificate today—and Aeon gave it her official stamp of approval! 😊

Our partners are a critical part of keeping the music ALIVE. This award began with an introduction from Kris Rose and David Dean at Girls Rock Tulsa! to AFT-ID Executive Director Danny DeVore, connecting Aeon with the opportunity to receive an instrument.

We are grateful for everyone who helps AFT ID put instruments into the hands of students who are ready to learn, grow and make music.

As we bring Month with Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture to a close we are grateful for our Partners and Donors!

Today we were at Tulsa Guitar Co. NEW LOCATION with Trey Johnson. Tulsa Guitar Co. is now located across the street from one of our other great partners The Church Studio! Swing by drop of some instruments for AFT-ID to support the new school year and help support these awesome Tulsans!

Thanks to Tom Vincent for the donation of an Acoustic Electric Bass Guitar, a 3/4 Classical Guitar and a Ukulele!

We have an ask for several more instruments to help several young students get kicked off for the fall 2026 school year. If you have any of these in your closet please reach out - we'd love to get them into the hands of some young players!

What we need: Guitar Amp, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Trombone and monetary donations for new instruments and repairs! Thanks in advance!

Thank you to Dave Smith, one of our Melody Matchmakers, for connecting us with these students. Thank you to Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW for donating the electric guitar, and thank you Kathy Lookout for donating the drum kit!

July is ! To celebrate we are asking for instrument and monetary donations to help our organization continue to serve the people of Oklahoma. We will also be highlighting important awards, donations, festivals, and the work we do behind the scenes to make this organization run. Please consider donating in any way you can!

We awarded this cornet to Kaylee! Kaylee was recommended by melody matchmaker Cheryl McGee! We are so thankful for our melody matchmakers who help us identify recipients for our awards.

Thank you to the Hagens for donating this trumpet to AFT-ID! We are excited to give it a new home!

AFT-ID awarded an Alesis DM8 Electronic Drum Kit with amp to David! David's mother learned about us from Lewis and Clark Middle School. It's wonderful to see our partnerships leading to wonderful moments like this!

Mr. and Mrs. Van D**e donated a Yamaha electric piano, Rogue bass guitar with amp, 2 piano stands and a piano stool to AFT-ID! Thank you to TheMusic StoreInc for recommending they donate their instruments to us.

Thank you to Gary for the donation of two acoustic guitars! Gary found us online and reached out about donating these instruments to us. We are grateful for all our donors and are excited to award these instruments to individuals in Oklahoma!
