The Intelligent Miner's Carly Leonida caught up with Hexagon's Morgan Avis, Head of Product - Analytics and Data Platform, and Xiao Ru, Senior Product Manager, about how collision avoidance technology became a strategic mining tool.

"When analysed properly, collision avoidance system (CAS) data can reveal patterns that would otherwise be difficult to identify," wrote Leonida.

"For Avis, the concept is linked to what he described as 'observability'," she continued. "Rather than simply recording incidents as they occur, CAS and vehicle intervention systems (VIS) now provide a continuous stream of information about operational interactions. That visibility creates opportunities to reduce risk and improve the way mines function."
