Mobile breast cancer screening unit rolled out at Rochester Regional Health 08/13/2018

Rochester Regional Health is increasing access to breast cancer screening through their new mobile mammography center. The RV-style vehicle will begin seeing patients in Monroe County, NY in mid-August. Katherine Rogala, Rochester Regional’s vice president of women’s health, explains the need for an accessible solution to breast cancer screening appointments:

“Rogala said women told Rochester Regional staff that regular business hours weren’t working for them, and they needed a more convenient way to get their screenings. The mobile center will work with businesses and places of worship to connect with women at the places they go in their daily lives...”

How does diet impact breast cancer risk? 07/24/2018

A team of researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health studied the association between fruit- and vegetable-rich diets and cancer risk. They collected data from two different population studies—one beginning in 1980 and the other beginning in 1991.

“The researchers' analysis suggested that women who ate more than five and a half servings of fruits and vegetables daily had an 11 percent reduced risk of developing breast cancer, compared with women who ate two and half servings or under of fruits and vegetables.”
