Wright Flight motivates over 1000 students a year to "reach new heights" in academics by rewarding success with the chance to fly an airplane.

π©οΈ Recap: Celebrating 120 Years of Flight in Kitty Hawk!

History came alive on December 17th in Kitty Hawk, NC, as aviation enthusiasts gathered to honor the 120th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first flight. Among the esteemed guests was Robin, adding to the significance of the event.
π Highlights of the Celebration:
Beechcraft Display (Dec 16): 40 historic Beechcraft planes lined the mall at First Flight Airport, paying tribute to aviation history.
Main Event (Dec 17): Organized by the First Flight Society and the National Park Service, the day included:
Speaker Series: Insights into the Wright Brothers' contributions and Beechcraft's role in aviation.
Portrait Unveiling: Honoring Walter and Olive Ann Beech's impact on aviation.
Wreath-Laying Ceremony: Descendants paid homage to the first flight witnesses.
Flyover and Demonstrations: Beechcraft demonstration teams added excitement with thrilling flyovers, symbolizing ongoing innovation in aviation.

Itβs not your βnormalβ non-profit organization. Nor is it like a team where everybody gets a trophy. Kids learn you have to earn the right to graduate. If you donβt work hard, you wonβt get off the ground.

VOYAGER
(Recommended for 6th β 12th Grades)
History of Aviation program is a prerequisite to the Voyager program. Eight lesson / ten-week program that focuses on aviation pioneers such as the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindberg, and Amelia Earhart and concludes with βlast first in aviationβ β the non-stop, around the world flight of the Voyager.
Students then learn how to plot and plan their own flight on an aeronautical chart which the student will use to navigate during their Fly Day. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the privilege of flying in a light aircraft with a volunteer pilot.
Upon landing, each student receives a certificate and a Voyager T-shirt that is available only to Wright Flight graduates.

HISTORY OF AVIATION
(Recommended for 5th β 12th Grades)
βοΈPrerequisite for the Voyager program. Nine lesson / twelve-week program that provides an overview of major milestones and inspirational characters from the history of aviation. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the privilege of flying a light aircraft with a volunteer pilot. Upon landing, each student receives a certificate and a special Wright Flight History T-shirt that is available only to Wright Flight graduates.

MINUTEMAN
(Recommended for 4th β 6th Grades)
βSix lesson program that covers topics such as the origin of the Air National Guard, how the Wright Brothers used hard work and experimentation to successfully achieve manned flight, and women in aviation.
Students who successfully complete the program are provided with a ground-based aviation activity such as a special guided tour of the Pima Air and Space Museum, a tour of a local military facility, or other similar aviation themed event.
Each student receives a certificate and Minuteman T-shirt that is available only to Wright Flight graduates.

π Another reason for Wright Flight's perfect safety record is that they never fly in poor weather conditions. Over the years, dozens of Fly Days have been postponed due to weather. While it may seem disappointing at the time, the experience of flying is ultimately more enjoyable for everyone in good weather.
