Solutions Family Support provides clinically-informed life coaching to invested individuals, and specializes in working with parents who are supporting struggling teens and young adults.
A screen boundary created in the middle of an argument usually becomes part of the argument. The conversation goes better when families decide in advance what the limit protects, when devices are put away and what happens when the agreement is ignored.
Parental controls, device settings and router schedules can make the routine predictable, but they cannot replace a parent’s judgment or follow-through. The goal is not to win a nightly fight over minutes. It is to protect sleep, school, movement, relationships and the responsibilities that screens may be crowding out.
When screen use has become a constant source of conflict in your home, our parent coaches can help you create a plan that fits your child and that you feel prepared to hold.

Your child may have a therapist or be coming home from treatment. But you’re still the person making the decisions at home.
Should I step in? Hold the boundary? Let this play out? What do I say when the same pattern starts again?
Our six-week parent groups give you a place to bring those real-life decisions and work through them with an experienced parent coach and people facing similar challenges.
You’ll leave with practical language, boundaries you feel prepared to hold and a clearer understanding of your role in what happens next.

The behavior matters but so does what may be happening underneath it.
When you’re worried about screens, alcohol or another substance, look beyond how often it happens. Pay attention to the pattern surrounding it:
What usually happens beforehand?
Does the behavior appear after stress, conflict or disappointment?
What feeling or situation does it help your child avoid?
Is it beginning to replace relationships, responsibilities or healthier ways of coping?
One incident rarely gives you the entire answer. Patterns, context and function tell you much more.
Our September article explores how parents can distinguish experimentation from a possible warning sign and respond without immediately turning the conversation into an interrogation.

Sometimes your child tells you something important without making it sound important.
They mention what happened at a sleepover, something they saw online or what another kid brought to a party. Your instinct may be to investigate, fix it or shut it down immediately.
Before you do, let them finish.
Try: “I’m glad you told me. What happened next?”
Keeping the conversation open doesn’t mean approving of what happened. It gives you the information and connection you need to respond well.
If you’re struggling to know when to listen, when to step in or how to hold a boundary without shutting down the conversation, our parent coaches can help.

“Sarah” represents a composite of parents we work with, and the identifying details have been changed.
She had gathered advice, consulted professionals and tried responding in different ways. But when the same conversations kept becoming the same arguments, she began to question every parenting decision she made.
Parent coaching creates space to slow down what is actually happening, understand the pattern and practice a response that feels clearer and more intentional.
Our six-week parent groups address challenges including anxiety, defiance, substance use, family conflict and staying grounded during difficult moments.

When families feel chaotic, most parents think they need to try harder. More reminders. More consequences. More motivation.
But motivation fades. Rhythms don't.
One predictable routine can quietly erase a dozen daily arguments, because it removes the need to negotiate the same thing every single day.
Maybe it's homework before screens. Maybe it's a Sunday reset before the week starts. It doesn't need to be complicated. It just needs to be the same, every time.
Calm doesn't happen by accident. It's built — one rhythm you can return to, especially on the days everything else falls apart.
If you want help figuring out what your family's rhythm should be, this is exactly what we cover in our parent groups.

💬 What's one rhythm your family could start before school begins?
Treatment is a milestone.
It isn't the finish line.
One of the hardest truths parents discover is that recovery changes everyone—not just the person struggling with addiction.
Parents often tell me they expected to feel relief after treatment, but instead they felt anxious, exhausted, uncertain, and afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing.
Those feelings are incredibly common.
Recovery is about rebuilding relationships, creating healthier patterns, and learning how to move forward together.
You don't have to navigate that journey alone.
If your family has been affected by addiction, know that healing is possible—even when it doesn't happen all at once.
We've got a handful of spots left for one of the most meaningful trips we run all year.
Solutions Family Support and Breakwater Expeditions are heading back to the Green River October 11–17 for six days of canoeing, camping, and the kind of family conversations that need a canyon and no cell signal to happen.
If you've been waiting for a sign to get your family on this trip, this is it — send us a message or check the link in our bio to reserve your spot before it's gone.
Together with , we are planning our Back to Us Family River trip for this October. Imagine your family being cared for by people who understand family dynamics. The gear, food, and itinerary are taken care of. Your family is in the wild, unplugged from distractions. The entire family learns to find each other again.
It truly changes how your family connects.
