“We have heard explosions.” Checked in with a former colleague of mine living and working in Dubai. She welcomed a baby girl just 5 weeks ago. New mom in a new country, as the war with Iran continues to intensify. This is what it’s like for her in the Middle East 🇦🇪

In my last post I showed you what goes on behind the scenes while covering a news story.

Social media allows me to show you more than what makes the news.

I’ve noticed people are more interested in the news gathering process behind the scenes than the actual news story we spend so much time putting together… perfecting our script and making sure our video matches what we wrote during the editorial process.

Here’s the story I put together. The final product that made it to air.

Everything you saw in my previous post, I had to capture for our viewers in less than 2 minutes for news coverage.

As I preface all of my posts involving any government official, I do not care what side of the aisle you lean on. I will not engage in political conversations with you on this platform.

Got a chance to get out of the newsroom. This is what it’s like being a journalist out in the field. I was on assignment covering DHS Sec Kristi Noem visit to the Arizona/Mexico border.

It’s always cool to see what’s on the news for yourself. Wanted to share it with you!

Thank you for taking our crew around and making sure we got everything we needed for our story!

I am so heartbroken by the news of the sudden passing of Chief Greg Allen. He wasn't a huge fan of the media, but man did he love people. He wouldn't grant me the chance to sit down and interview him, but he opened up off-camera. When our conversation ended, to my surprise, he enjoyed it as much as I did and gifted me an EL PASO POLICE DEPARTMENT blanket. It was so special to me because he told me police officers have to earn them. I love that blanket and now it is even more special to me. May the Lord welcome Chief Allen into his Kingdom and comfort his family during this sad time. Thank you for the years of wonderful service to wonderful El Paso. President Trump called the Chief — "one of the most respected men in law enforcement" — when he visited during the Sun City's darkest moment-- the Walmart mass shooting in 2019. I have to say, I agree with you, Mr. President.

Here are some photos from my visit with the Chief back in 2019. And, OF COURSE, I brought heart-shaped donuts because I love our men & women in blue ❤️

Some perspective for ya on how bad these storms have been. When compared to California’s deadly wildfires, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) said, had these storms been a wildfire, it would be the 5th deadliest wildfire in California history. That’s how bad it is and they said it’s mainly because people make “bad decisions.” So for Pete’s sake, listen to any warnings issued for your safety and the safety of our emergency responders. Don’t make them risk their life to save yours because you didn’t listen.
