Today we gathered at the Los Reales Sustainability Campus to celebrate the Mayor's proclamation of Waste & Recycling Workers Week and recognize the Environmental Services employees who help manage Tucson's waste every day. 💚♻️🚛
Surrounded by our landfill team, Ward 5 representatives, and Environmental Services leadership, we took a moment to thank the hardworking professionals whose efforts often happen behind the scenes but are crucial to our community.
We thank you this week and every week!

🚛 Happy National Garbage Man Day!
Long before most of us start our morning, these hardworking professionals are out serving neighborhoods, navigating traffic, working through extreme temperatures, and providing an essential public service that many of us rely on without a second thought. 🚛
🚛♻️ Meet Maria, Environmental Services Operator
Follow along as Maria takes us through a day on Tucson's residential FoodCycle route from collecting food scraps in our neighborhoods across the city to delivering the material to Los Reales Sustainability Campus, where it can be composted instead of landfilled.
Maria's experience spans multiple areas of Environmental Services. Before working residential routes, she supported our commercial collection operations, helping serve Tucson businesses. Her work is helping residents divert food scraps from the landfill.
