It is important to understand the different causes of solar panel soiling so users can take a situation - based approach to cleaning. If you experience any of the conditions in bullet point two, you likely will need to clean your solar panels more frequently than those who don't experience these conditions.

Why wait? Cleaning your panels will save you money and extend panel lifetime.

How do you know when your panels should be cleaned?
As a general rule of thumb, solar panels need to be cleaned at least twice a year. This number increases if you live in the Southwest, or any arid climate, because panels will be exposed to more dust with less of a chance of rain. Additionally, if you live near a freeway, airport, or factory, you will need to clean your panels more often due to pollution. It's always better to err on the side of safety and efficiency.
Keeping an eye on your power is a great way to double check that your panels are working at optimum efficiency!

The SolBrush can be hooked up directly to a water spigot or to one of our backpacks for easier removal of dust and dirt particles.

Did you know that rain isn't enough to clean your panels? In fact, rain leaves a residue that can block photovoltaic productivity. In addition to rain, other events can be a source of soiling, too - like bird droppings, dust storms, construction, or agriculture.

Wondering how our utility scale brushes work? Read on!!
Two technicians start out by gently placing the MiniMax or TriMax on the solar panel's frame. The wheels (exhibited in this underside view of a panel array) allow the technicians to push the brush along the panels surface using two extendable handles, removing any dust, dirt, or debris with minimal effort. Once at the end of the row, the brush can be easily removed the same way it was put on, and the process begins again on the next row.
SunSweep uses lightweight aluminum and specialized brushes to remove particles without damaging the panel's optical surface. The unique rubberized track design and wheels allow for smooth operation, and the spring loaded brushes ensure contact between the brush and panel at all times.
