I stumbled upon these photos of a project from years ago that I think about a lot. The view outside this large glass opening in an addition I designed serves as a natural television. The life and happenings outside are mesmerizing. It’s really cool.
The project removed the rear wall of the house and pushed it outwards, forming a dining and lounging extension.
The owners, cabinet maker, and countertop company made a great interior that saved the existing and added new that looks like it was always intended.

What a great morning! The design Eric Nickerson and I submitted was one of the winners of the Casita Design Competition put on by the City of Tucson, AARP and the AIA! We won a people’s choice award as well as being selected by a jury of local professionals as one of the 10 projects to be featured on the Development Services website and receive waived permit fees when built.

It’s past time to start sharing the beautiful post monsoon photos of the Turtle Rock House taken by . A thoughtful exercise resulted in a house tucked into rock outcroppings at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains aimed at climate appropriateness and the vision of the owners.
