I have an update on the ongoing construction on Tanque Verde near Bear Canyon Road. Much of this was in my newsletter on Friday, but some things have happened since and not all of you get the newsletter.

The work is being done for a developer building apartments on Bear Canyon to expand the sewer system. In my newsletter, I noted that the permit that allows them to do work on Tanque Verde expires June 9 (that's today, and it comes after multiple extensions). I met with the contractors last week and relayed your frustrations to them and made it clear that I have asked that another extension not be issued until they have met with the neighbors.

That meeting will be happening at our office (7820 E Broadway) at 6 pm on Thursday. If you live in the area, you are welcome to come to express your concerns and hear their plans to finish the work.

The pause will also give the contractor a chance to reorganize his team. My hope is that they can move from 5 eight hour shifts to 6 ten hour shifts to get the work done more quickly.

Please come out! I'm very proud of these projects and the neighbors deserve a lot of credit for helping get the ball over the line on this. Thank you.

BIG weekend at the park, neighbors, with two reasons to celebrate:

Friday, May 29 | 5:30 PM
Join the city as we celebrate the completion of improvements to our park, including pickleball courts and a refreshed children's playground (where we'll meet).

Saturday, May 30 | 9:00 AM
Be there for the unveiling of the brand-new basketball courts, dedicated in honor of Judith “Mama” Blair.

This Saturday is especially meaningful as we thank Coach Joseph Blair, a former Wildcat and generous community champion, for helping bring this incredible new amenity to our park.

Let’s show up BIG for the Blair family and celebrate what community can make possible. See you there!
