Wild and flowery!

Tired of your boring old lawn? Need a little pollination in your life? Why not try planting your own wildflower meadow, if not for yourself, then at least for the birds and the bees. Meadows are not only beautiful additions to the land, but they also promote the growth of native species of plants, pollinators and songbirds. You’re looking at a three-to-four-year project before you have a meadow humming with activity, but it’s worth the wait! Native flowers act as the foundation for an entire food chain.

Native Seed Search has excellent vegetable seeds to start your next season of gardening. What do you plant in the fall?

Here are my garden plans (Alex) (all Native Seed Search seeds besides the broccoli):
To share:
-Mustard greens (Mostaza Roja)
-Arugula
-Beets (Early wonder, Chioggia, and Detroit Red)
(now that sounds like a yummy meal!)
Seeds to save and share:
-Mustard greens (I am hoping that because this is a Native Seeds variety that they will be easier to save even though it is a brassica (which like lower temperatures when the seeds are maturing)...we will see)
-Peas
I will also be growing:
carrots
peas
turnips
lettuce
garlic
radishes
broccoli
(I will make sure that the turnips and broccoli do not flower so that they will not cross pollinate with the mustard greens)
