It's so fabulous, it's hard to believe it's a pigeon. A Victoria Crown Pigeon struts its stuff at the San Diego zoo.

My nemesis, the squirrel. I was standing at the cliff railing in La Jolla watching the pelicans fly by when I noticed some movement right in front of my feet. Squirrels. Ugh. To my credit, I managed not to scream. I took a couple of pictures of the little rat bastards before moving on.

I swear I was only in the Africa Rocks aviary at the San Diego zoo for about ten minutes, but my daughter tells me I was there muuuuch longer than that. Whatever, I was having a blast watching these black-headed weaver birds create their little nests. It's amazing how fast they get these together.

Sea lions. "Arguing" as usual. I laughed a lot while watching the sea lions at La Jolla cove. There was one sea lion that was just waddling around starting fights with every sea lion it came across. Must have been having a bad morning.

I love the San Diego zoo. Well, any zoo really, but the San Diego zoo has so much to offer. As I was taking this picture I heard someone near me say, "she got a good photo out of that".

For hours I watched this cormorant fly out to sea to collect grasses and return to his mate to build a nest. After a while, he got tired of all the flying and waddled around trying to steal nesting material from other cormorant nests.

Sometimes you get to see some not-so-nice things while out stalking wildlife. I'll tell you what, there are an awful lot of one legged, one eyed birds out there.
