My first visit to the Calvin University Festival of Faith and Writing--what a warm and wonderful place. Gave a talk on desert literature, and joined a panel on landscape as character with fellow writers Christine Byl and Eli Cranor. And briefly staffed the booth for the new Whitworth MFA! Home now, but still marinating in all the booky goodness.

Just returned from the Tucson Festival of Books, where A Desert Between Two Seas was a top pick for the Southwest Books of the Year. Walked around in the luscious 90 degrees, ate some Tucson tamales, sat on an author panel with Nathan Harris, Evanthia Bromiley, and Anne Hillerman, visited Mission San Xavier Del Bac, and led a workshop on literature of place. Oh, lovely days.
