🔎I love learning about traditions observed in other parts of the globe! 🌎 I came across an article recently that introduced me to the caroling tradition of “Parrandas” in Puerto Rico. A small group of people called “parranderos“ go from house to house singing “parrandas” (carols) late at night, waking up the homeowner, who invites them in and gives them food & drink. As they go along to more houses, they grow in numbers, singing Christmas songs, called “Alguinaldos” which means “gifts”. Doesn’t that sound like fun? 🥳 I wonder if the Puerto Rican diaspora does this in places like NYC? Comment below if you can share anything about Parrandas! Christmas caroling is one of my favorite holiday traditions. 🎄🎼👄 I miss being able to sing in groups, but hopefully it will be safe to do so next year! 🤞
