This Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize the legacy of San Pablo Hose Company No. 1 in Tempe, Arizona. Formed in 1915 by 15 Mexican American men and led by Captain Cresencio “Chris” Sigala, the group came together with one mission: protecting their community. Less than a year later, Sigala was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief. His leadership helped pave the way for future generations of Hispanic firefighters. We honor their service, sacrifice, and legacy.

🔥 Clean Your Fireplace & Chimney
Have your chimney inspected and cleaned before using your fireplace for the season.
🍁 Clear Dry Leaves
Keep leaves, pine needles, and other dry vegetation away from your home, garage, and outdoor equipment.
🧯 Check Your Fire Extinguishers
Make sure your extinguisher is accessible, properly charged, and not expired.
🚨 Test Your Smoke Alarms
Test smoke alarms and replace batteries if needed. Make sure everyone in your home can hear them.
🛌 Check Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Test CO alarms and make sure you have one near sleeping areas.
🔥 Use Fire Pits Safely
Keep fire pits away from structures, trees, and anything that can catch fire. Always fully extinguish the fire before leaving.
⚡ Inspect Heating Equipment
Before turning on your heater for the first time, have it inspected and make sure vents aren’t blocked.
