They may want to check out ARCTEL (Alternate Route to Certification for Teachers of English Learners) through ACES — a state-approved program designed for working educators who want to add TESOL certification while continuing to teach.

ARCTEL is an advanced educator preparation program that supports certified PreK–12 teachers in earning a TESOL (and/or bilingual) cross-endorsement through a flexible online format with coursework, practicum, and classroom-based application.

Key highlights:
• Designed for currently certified CT teachers
• Fully online and flexible while teaching
• Leads to TESOL PreK–12 cross-endorsement
• Includes practicum and real classroom application
• Supports bilingual education pathways
• Cohorts are open until filled (rolling admission)
• Program cost is approximately $5,000 plus fees
• Financial aid/support may be available depending on eligibility

Applicants must hold a valid Connecticut teaching certificate and be employed in a CT school during the program.
