Church family this is Courtney’s Prayer request update:
We came home last night to rest and recuperate ourselves and to see Kip who is having a tough time too.
His nurse just called.
His saturation levels have dropped to the 70’s, been in 90’s.
Started having seizures.
Cannot get left lung to open.
Calling doctors to see what plan of action is needed.
EKG has also been ordered.
We are headed back up there now, please pray for God to heal our baby!
As most of you know Courtney, Reed & Kip Golden welcomed baby brother Keller into their family on June 12th. I would like to share with you all updated news from Courtney on Baby Keller. She has listed the specific prayer needs and ask you all to flood the gates of heaven on his behalf. We will have a special time of prayer at the end of both services today for them. If you can’t be with us today at church please stop and pray for them and continue to until sweet Keller is home. Blessings- Peyton
Friends,
I am coming here asking for a flood of prayers for our baby. Sweet Keller was born on June 12 at 9:00 PM, weighing 8 pounds 15 oz and 21 inches long. He didn’t have a heartbeat at birth, but very quickly the nurse angels in the room worked on him and decided he needed further help somewhere that offers therapeutic hypothermia (a cooling unit), to reduce brain swelling and let his body really get the rest it needs to detect any/amount of damage done to his brain. He was diagnosed with HIE Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy, because of the high acid levels in his blood and no oxygen to his brain (hopefully for just a very short period of time). We were told this is not necessarily a permanent diagnosis, however, the coming days and tests will tell more into our little guy’s story and he would need immediate help elsewhere. All 3 of Children’s transport methods were down, but Baptist South got to us and he was able to get on cooling unit as soon as they arrived to get him and he will be on that unit for 72 hours.
He has already shown us wonderful, positive things. He has opened both eyes (isn’t reacting to light or moving his eyes around but I know he can do it so soon, this isn’t a bad thing as they really want to keep stimulus around him low so that his body can 100% rest and work on healing), he has flinched with some touch from the nurses and moved his head tiny movements a few times, he has kept up his BP, breathed on his own above the ventilator (that he can hopefully come off of later today, that is a specific prayer that his nurse told us to be praying for), he has had a BM (no urine output which is another prayer request specifically from his nurse), they have had to increase his oxygen levels since he arrived as he could be fighting some infection in his lungs or just from the trauma of what his body has been through (another specific prayer request as we aren’t 100% sure). He doesn’t have any gag reflex (another specific prayer request). We are reminded that he has many negative things working against him and that he is a very sick little guy, but it is so evident that he is so strong and the Lord is with him.
After he is slowly taken off of cooling unit, he will have tests. Wednesday or Thursday, an EEG will detect brain activity (that we are so prayerfully begging the Lord for). An MRI will get a better picture of his brain and begin to paint us a picture of what might have happened and caused this. He will have to be off of the ventilator for these tests (which he is working hard towards and a big praise and continued prayer).
I am missing so many details and things are running together, but we have felt every prayer that has been lifted to God for Keller’s healing and we appreciate every single one. We are so appreciative of the texts, calls, and messages sent to us. We have felt so much love. We are so relieved that he is with doctors and nurses who have told us to pray and what to pray for, not just given us “updates on baby”. We know he is in wonderful hands and I can feel that so very soon we will all be in one place and we will be able to bring him home to meet a very proud big brother! 🤍🙏🏼

Lastly special thanks to some of our amazing youth that volunteered their time to help make sure VBS was a success. The youth could have been doing a lot of things but chose to take time to love and encourage our sweet VBS kids. Thank you all so much.
