I got to do this combo with some of my students Tuesday and then some more yesterday, but I’m dedicating this to every single one of them. I like me better when I’m with them ❤️

There are so many thinge about this that I hate. I did this combo probably 10 times in a row, to the point that I was about to pass out and I just couldn’t get it the way I wanted it. Finally, I just said stop. This is it for today. It is what it is. Still not happy with the final video, but this is for them. I’m not looking for a “Oh you look beautiful! What do you mean you aren’t happy with it?” Nope. Not the point of the post at all. The point is for them. I hear them doubt themselves every dang day and it drives me bonkers. So, this is for them. We all have that parrot on our shoulder that tells us we aren’t good enough…all of us. It’s our job to tell it to shove it and keep on fighting and I’ll be right here beside y’all doing it everyday. Troy dancers, I love you with all of me and I am so proud of you! Now, let’s go have an even better show tonight! 😘

I heard this cover the other day and immediately felt drawn to it. For Valentine’s Day we danced to this in class because I think finding love, in any kind of relationship, is all about finding people that make you wanna be better. The students are that for me. Getting to be in this space with them every day brings so much joy and constantly makes me Want to be better for them and for me. This video is special because it is with the seniors who happened to be the first class that I taught as a professor at Troy. I love all my students but these guys have a special place in my heart and soul. During the improv at the end, I turned around and just started sobbing watching them. I like me better when I’m with y’all.

I’ll tell you what I did NOT want to do when I woke up this morning and that’s go teach this class or even be around people at all. But I went and I’m so glad I did. I love teaching. I love dancing. I love this place. I love these students. My heart and soul needed movement today. I left class in a much better headspace than I woke up in. Thank you dance. Thank you Troy.
