Beginning Wednesday, June 17, the intersection of eastbound and westbound Long Lake at Rochester Road, will be closed for three weeks (weather permitting) for paving. Please note that westbound Long Lake will remain open to traffic until the Rochester Road intersection. Eastbound Long Lake Road will be closed to traffic for an estimated three weeks.
Refer to the graphic to locate detour route options, or visit troymi.gov/RochesterRoad. Thank you for your patience while we make these improvements! đ§

This week in many of our classes, weâve been weaving in principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In TCM, spring is associated with growth, renewal, vision, and a deeper sense of purpose. We move out of winter, a season connected with rest, introspection, and stillness, and begin to emerge into a time of creativity, expansion, and possibility.
Within the Five Element system of TCM, spring is connected to the Wood Element, along with the Liver and Gallbladder meridians. This week, much of our focus has been on the Liver meridian, which is energetically associated with flow, adaptability, direction, and the ability to move forward with clarity.
Many of the poses and shapes we explored this week targeted the inner thighs, front of the hips, side body, and outer abdomen, areas commonly associated with the pathway of the Liver meridian. We practiced twists, wide-legged forward folds, triangle, and butterfly, along with balancing poses like tree pose that remind us we can be both rooted and flexible, able to bend without breaking.
Weâve also been exploring the acupressure point Liver 8 or âSpring at the Bendâ (LV8, or Ququan in Chinese). Traditionally, this point is used to support circulation and nourish the Liver meridian, and itâs commonly used for medial knee discomfort, inner thigh tension, and stiffness through the hips. Energetically, itâs also said to support clarity, emotional balance, and reconnecting with our sense of purpose and vision.
You can try this point for yourself from butterfly pose. Using both thumbs, apply gentle circular pressure to the point for about a minute. Then pause the movement and simply hold steady pressure with the thumbs, allowing yourself a few breaths to soften and tune inward. Don't worry about getting it just right, since this is acupressure, and not acupuncture (with a needle), we don't have to be quite as precise.
Acupressure is subtle, but sometimes subtle practices create meaningful changes. Take a moment to explore this point for yourself and see what you notice.

Strength isnât just about muscles, itâs about how well your body can handle and adapt to challenge. đŞ
Our Yoga Strength Class is designed to introduce intelligent, moderate loading into your practice to help build resilience from the inside out.
Why does this matter?
Because your connective tissues, including ligaments, tendons and fascia, respond to stress. When applied mindfully, that stress helps them become stronger, more adaptable, and better supported over time.
In this class, you'll experience:
- Controlled, strength-based holds in familiar yoga shapes
- Slow, intentional transitions that increase time under tension
- Weights and props to add load and challenge stability
This isnât about intensity for intensityâs sake.
Itâs about training your body to move with greater support, stability, and longevity so your yoga practice can evolve with you, not against you.
Come try out one of our 3 Yoga Strength Classes this week:
Wednesday, April 1st @ 7:15pm
Thursday, April 2nd @ 8am
Saturday, April 4th @ 10:30am

At Explore Yoga, we believe yoga is so much more than movement. Itâs a tool for connection, resilience, and emotional well-being.
In addition to teaching yoga at Explore, our teacher Gwen has been teaching yoga for years with Troy Youth Assistance, helping bring mindfulness and movement to kids in our community.
So proud of the work sheâs doing to help kids build confidence, resilience, and connection.
Great job Gwen!

Dear Students,
Due to an unexpected power outage at Explore Yoga that has been ongoing for a few hours now, we must cancel all classes/workshop/saunas for tonight. DTE estimates we may not have power back until 9:15pm.
Unfortunately, without electricity, we cannot safely provide lighting, access to bathrooms, projector presentation, access to wifi for presentation, saunas or heat (our rooftop heating unit requires power to operate blower/fan).
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
We will be rescheduling the Neck Workshop soon, if you were signed up, you were sent a separate message regarding this, if you didn't receive it, please reach out to us at [email protected]
