Congratulations to Michael Mancini, VP of Institutional Strategy & COO at Thomas Edison State University, on his selection for the 2026–27 Executive Leadership Academy!
Michael is one of just 36 higher education leaders chosen nationwide through a competitive selection process, joining a cohort of provosts and vice presidents preparing for presidential and chancellor roles. The Academy is a collaborative program offered through American Association of State Colleges and Universities, Council of Independent Colleges, and the American Academic Leadership Institute, focused on leadership development, mentorship, and professional networking.
Since joining TESU in 2018, Michael has been a cornerstone of the university's strategic direction. As President Dr. Merodie A. Hancock shared, his selection is "a well-deserved recognition of his talent, dedication and potential."
Here’s to the next chapter of an already remarkable career. 👏

For Justin Fox, BSAST ’12, the nuclear energy workforce ladder isn't just something he climbed — it's something he's actively building for others. A senior manager at PanTeXas Deterrence, Justin championed an educational partnership that opens degree pathways for 4,800 employees at the Pantex Plant and Y-12, giving them academic credit for the hands-on experience they've spent careers building. Nearly 80 are already enrolled, with 150 more in the pipeline — and Justin is right there with them, pursuing a B.S. in Nuclear Energy Engineering Technology himself. Yesterday, the NJ Senate Higher Education Committee and Senate Labor Committee held a joint hearing on AI's impact on New Jersey's workforce. TESU President Merodie A. Hancock joined leaders from NJ’s colleges and universities to help shape the state's response to one of the most transformative shifts in higher education and employment.
“We are preparing our working adult students to remain competitive and advance in an AI-enabled economy while helping employers access a workforce that is AI-literate, ethically grounded, and adaptable. Rather than training for a single tool or methodology that may become obsolete, we focus on developing critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to continuously learn and adapt as technology and workforce needs evolve.” - Dr. Merodie A. Hancock
