Another month gone by and another successful taste test at Courtade Elementary. We tried edamame this month and it was a hit! Every student that tries the fruit or vegetable of the month gets to vote on whether they loved it, liked it or tried it. We love being able to give kids the opportunity to try something they might not have tried before!

We share a lot of our class moments, taste tests, and behind-the-scenes fun on Instagram.

If you’d like an inside look at what our young chefs are learning each week, come follow along!

We’d love to have you there. 💚

🍎 Taste Test Series | February

This month’s Cook It Forward Taste Test featured Spaghetti Squash at Courtade Elementary.

Students learned what it is, how it’s prepared, and why it’s good for their growing bodies. Then came the brave part: trying it.

Each student voted:
💛 Loved it
👍 Liked it
🤔 Tried it (not for me)

Because trying something new builds confidence.
Curiosity today becomes healthy habits tomorrow.

Young palates are constantly changing, and we’re here to keep Northern Michigan kids exploring one bite at a time. 🌱

What should we try next month?

We love hearing from our volunteers.

When community members step into the kitchen, they’re not just helping teach cooking skills... they’re building confidence, connection, and independence in our youth.

You don’t have to be a chef to make a difference. You just have to care.

Want to get involved? DM us and come cook it forward. 💚
