Aanii families! We look forward to your attendance at our final parent committee meeting on June 9, 2026 from 6-7pm at the East Middle School Library with a virtual option via Google Meet: https://www.google.com/url?q=http://meet.google.com/avv-jjhr-aht&sa=D&source=calendar&ust=1779193835667380&usg=AOvVaw1FuldhrsQXRLM5kpQ8OJqy
Please note, this is a new location than previous meetings.
Important items on the June 9 agenda:
Revising the IPC Bylaws - Per the recommendations of our IPC meeting members at our last meeting, we drafted a revision to the bylaws to no longer include a required Record-Eagle published meeting notice for each IPC meeting. We need to reach quorum to approve this item so it's important that as many parents attend the June 9, 2026 meeting as possible.
2026/2027 Graduation - Eagle feather purchasing, beading cap opportunities, and student gifts
Anishinaabe Art and Designs for Marketing - We'd love any feedback from the community on what this could look like!
We will send out reminders closer to the meeting date. We hope you are able to attend! Three parents will be eligible to receive $25 gas cards for parent participation.

West Senior High students interested in learning more about the University of Michigan (Umich) or transferring to the University of Michigan are encouraged to attend this event happening Tomorrow May 6, 2026!
What to expect:
Students will join me in room A201 at West Senior High School from 11:45am-12:45pm to join the Zoom webinar with UMich enrollment and transfer specialists. The presentation includes information about what UMich has to offer students, and what the transfer process looks like from a community college like Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) or another four year institution.
All grade levels are encouraged to attend, even if you're unsure about where you plan to attend college or if attending a four year institution is the right path for you.
If this interferes with a student's class but they'd still like to attend, I can write passes for students.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous People’s Day (MMIP) day, May 5th, is a day to honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous people and relatives, and raise awareness about the violence impacting Native communities. Today at Central High School, IE club members stood together to support justice, healing, and change. Students painted their school rock and made flyers and pins which were distributed during their lunch hours to raise awareness of the crisis facing Indigenous communities.
