Today, a tin was picked up by a family I’ve known for over 20 years. I was the kindergarten teacher for all three of their kids. Their mom told me my shortbread has become a nostalgic tradition for them… not just because it’s delicious, but because their kindergarten teacher made it.

Baking Sunday. It’s chilly, so I pulled on my long sweater/jacket… only to remember the buttons sit way too high. That meant reaching for one of my vintage pins and the perfect one found me.

It belonged to my great Aunt Elsie, my Grandma Anne’s youngest sister. Her “kilt pin.” Such an honor to wear it while I’m baking Anderson Shortbread, carrying their stories and our family tradition right here with me.
