The question was posted
"What tournament changed you?"
The screenshot here is one of the answers.
It is a significant answer because Conor is a 4x state champ from IL.
Can you imagine going from the "weakest" youth wrestler in the room, to becoming a 4x state champ?
Just keep coming back!

Wrestling doesn’t humble kids by accident.
It does it on purpose.
Wrestling is engineered to remove false confidence early.
Not through speeches.
Not through punishment.
But through reality.
On the mat, intent means nothing without ex*****on.
Desire does not override position.
Emotion does not change leverage.
A child may believe they are tough.
They may believe they work hard.
Wrestling tests those beliefs immediately.
When effort is inconsistent, the result reflects it.
When preparation is shallow, exposure is instant.
This is not cruelty.
It is precision.
The sport teaches humility not by breaking kids down, but by aligning their self-image with truth.
And once that alignment happens, growth becomes possible.
Humility in wrestling is not shame.
It is accuracy.

Good for all of us
Most wrestlers don’t peak when parents want them to.
Wrestling exposes a hard truth about development.
Growth is rarely convenient.
Parents often expect improvement to follow a straight line.
Wrestling follows a spiral.
Some kids win early because they’re bigger, stronger, or more mature.
Others lose often while their body and confidence catch up.
Wrestling teaches patience the hard way.
Strength arrives late.
Composure arrives after repeated failure.
Confidence arrives only after kids survive doubt.
The athletes who stay engaged through awkward phases
often pass the ones who rushed results.
Wrestling rewards long-term commitment,
not short-term comfort.

We had a pizza party first day back, just bc why not.
We gave them a challenge and they accepted!
Take about 20 min a day over the break to work on wrestling.
Anyone that logged extra work received an entry into a drawing for wrestling swag.
We gave away 3 singlets, 3 T-shirts, 2 key chains and a poster book about American wrestlers.
Teach them discipline at a young age.
Congratulations to Turner who earned 8 entries into the drawing.

We issued a challenge to all the boys for Christmas Break.
They all received a chart with 10 dates to do 12 or 16 drills on each day, depending on age group.
Upon completion, they would all get a pizza party the first day back. Tue Jan 6.
ALSO - They could do EXTRA work to get their name in a few drawings to win a T-shirt, singlet and other wrestling swag!
If they entered in the tournament, automatic entry to win.
The drills take, at MAX 30 minutes out of an entire day.
Winners or Whiners is what we tell them...

Proud of these 11 boys that competed in the Eastside Battleground tournament today:
Sawyer Wallace
Leland Wallace
Cruz Landrum
Ridge Beal
Crue Goodman 1st
Daniel Crumpton
C**a Goodman 3rd
Carlos Ferguson 2nd
Roman Borneman 1st
John Chapman 1st
Dawson Moody 2nd
Highlights- both John and Dawson competed in MS division. Should be in 12U
Was the first competition for Cruz, Crue & C**a Goodman.
C**a came from behind in 2 of his matches (13-1, 10-14) and pinned them both.
Crue pinned all 3 of his opponents.
Thank you to all the parents for trusting us with your boys!
Thank you to all the parents for your help and encouragement 🙏
Thank you Flip, Chris, Kasey, Matthew, Brandon, Drew, Drew and all the Dads for helping. We need all of you!
