After 46 years of inspiring students, mentoring young men, and shaping the Calvert Hall community, Charlie Motsay ’76, AFSC, is retiring from The Hall.

A beloved science educator, Charlie served two terms as Science Department Chair and generously devoted his time to countless student organizations, including the Science National Honor Society, Eagles Nest, Biology Club, Science Club, Website Club, Dungeons & Dragons Club, and JV Baseball. He also led our JV and Varsity Cross Country programs from 1980-1987, earning The Baltimore Sun's Cross Country Coach of the Year honors in 1986.

His extraordinary impact has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award, the Archdiocesan Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Noppinger Endowed Chair for Faculty Leadership.

Thank you, Mr. Motsay, for 46 remarkable years.

A standout season for Calvert Hall athletics deserves a standout celebration!

Thirty-two student-athletes earned All-MIAA “A” All-Conference honors in their respective sports, showcasing excellence across the board. Frances Ceballos ’28 (Tennis) was named Athlete of the Year. Adding to the accolades, Bryan Kelly ’87 (Lacrosse) and David Mast ’89 (Tennis) were recognized as MIAA “A” Coaches of the Year for their outstanding leadership and championship-pedigree coaching.

Charlie Shaeffer III ‘26 and Grant Corboy IV ‘28 recently competed at the National Catholic Forensics League Grand National Tournament in Washington, DC. The duo placed 3rd overall in Policy Debate. Congrats, Debate Cards.

Today the spotlight shines on Tyshon Fogg ’17, who was recently selected for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. The prestigious NFL program provides talented coaches with the opportunity to work alongside professional coaching staffs while preparing them for future opportunities in the league.

Tyshon was also recently promoted to Associate Head Coach, Run Game Coordinator, and Linebackers Coach at the University of New Hampshire.

At this week's Senior Lunch, hosted by the Alumni Office, our soon-to-be grads gathered for their last tradition event on campus. They were given a commemorative t-shirt courtesy of the Alumni Association, designed by Teagan Baralo '26 and Zi Nwokoroku '26. They also received a formal welcome from Alumni Association President Jim Stephens '00 on behalf of our alumni community 17,000+ strong. The countdown to Saturday continues.

Congratulations to Chris Bowie-Donayre ’26 and Braedan Conly ’26 on earning the distinguished honors of valedictorian and salutatorian. This Saturday, they will have the opportunity to address their classmates at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen during Calvert Hall’s 181st Commencement Exercises.
