STATEMENT OF MICHELLE L. COOK
RE: 2024
PUBLIC DISCREPANCY RECANVASS FOR THE 65TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT

I want to thank Torrington's registrars, clerks and election workers for the hours of counting and tabulating under incredibly high-pressure. I have not made more of a public statement until now, as we have now a definite answer as to next steps. I am unsure of any vote totals thus far, as they have not been shared with us. We asked for them again today and were only given the press release that was sent regarding the recanvas.
On Tuesday they will begin recanvassing all ballots processed at Torrington's central counting location.
It is important that every vote is counted. Ronald Reagan said, 'The right to vote is the crown jewel of American liberties, and we will not see its luster diminished.'
Public proclamations of vote totals before the final count is counterproductive and miss leading.
Win or lose, I am incredibly proud of my campaign, my family, friends, and volunteers for all of their hard work and support.
Though longer than expected, we will have an answer at the end of this road.
