Anyone who loves charity more than himself, is either a saint or a Bodhisattva. Regardless of what our course of practice is, we will attain a very high spiritual level. Loving others more than yourself is a greatest secret, whether we love humanity or animals. If we can sacrifice ourselves for the sake of self-sacrifice, we are at the level of Bodhisattva. Surely it is.

Defines who we are. Regardless of how we feel we act, or how long we act, if we have this love, we don't have to ask. If only we could sacrifice for others or die for others, we would be raised to a higher standard. If we don't care about others or just care about ourselves, no matter how many years we practice, or work our asses off, or even we sit silent for hundreds of years, it's still useless. Love is important, because God is love. If we have love, we unite with God, just as He is.
