Some insect foods are so old, they predate farming, pottery, and the pyramids themselves.

Termites. Caterpillars. Ahuahutle.

These weren’t “gross foods” - they were survival foods, sacred foods, luxurious foods.

Ancient Rome didn’t just dabble in insects - they elevated them.

Honey-glazed crickets. Fat-fed larvae. Luxury bug-fattening farms.

Insects weren’t “weird food” - they were status food.

I don’t just talk about bugs… I gesture aggressively about them 🐛🤌

Jumping spiders use a process called external digestion 🤓

They bite their prey and regurgitate an enzyme-rich stomach fluid that breaks down the internal organs of the prey 🕷️

Then they suck up their “smoothie” through a straw-like tube 🥤

For the first time, I brought a special guest on stage at the bug fair: Chef Lucy Arnell of 🥣🦗🌱

She WOWED the audiences with her story, her talent, and of course, her INCREDIBLE bug-broth-based-focaccia (Bugaccia) 🍞🤤

If bread is 60% water, why stop at water? Why not make it with delicious broth?

The contestants couldn’t tell which bread was “bug bread.” Moreover, we heard the Bugaccia was some of the best bread they’d ever tasted!

Chef Lucy is the queen of flavor-forward, sustainable, protein-packed treats 💚

Is insect agriculture an extension of factory farming? 🤔
What is circular agriculture? 🌎

We got deep at the BUG FAIR.

If eating insects was common across history, why isn’t it today?

Fun fact: did you know Charles Darwin journaled about eating bugs? And Aristotle ate caterpillars! Native Americans made use of all sorts of insects in their diets. 🐛

At the BUG FAIR I invited brave audience members on stage to taste test & vs boring non-bug products.

3/4 were able to correctly guess which had bugs, but EVERYONE in the audience wanted to get in on the fun by trying for themselves after the talk 🤤🦗🐜
