Transform Topeka
Share
In the spring of 2011, a small group of interested believers began to meet for the purpose of bringing the Hope for America Tour to Topeka, Kansas.
Transform Topeka exists to facilitate communication and resources for the purpose of transforming Topeka, Kansas, by the power of Jesus Christ through the establishment of His kingdom. From this beginning, the discussions soon turned toward answering the questions of "What is transformation?" and "How does it come?"
Events relating to or encouraging transformation have taken place since these small beginnings. Currently, other transformation groups have sprung up, and progress is being made toward casting the vision of transformation in the capital of Kansas. Contact us at [email protected]. My personal conviction is to vote YES on August 4 on the Kansas Supreme Court constitutional question. Pray for guidance, and be salt and light in this culture. Vote.
Someone asked me on Sunday what the ballot question is all about. Here's some of what I know.
• The current selection process for appointing Supreme Court justices puts the decision-making in the hands of Kansas lawyers which are generally liberal, pro-abortion, and anti-God.
The court is so slanted now, cases referred up to the US Supreme Court are overturned 90% of the time. The retention votes for sitting justices are essentially meaningless since no justice has ever been voted out.
A no vote would retain this system.
• The proposed change on the ballot would allow justices to be elected by popular vote in the same way we elect the governor, senators, and congressmen.
It wouldn't guarantee a more godly court, but it would create that opportunity.
The argument that this change would create a court composed of corrupt politicians ignores the long tradition of democratic elections in our nation.
A yes vote would replace the current system.
The heartbreaking reality in Kansas is that more unborn babies are dying here due to this Kansas Supreme Court. That can change.
