Today we commemorate and recognize Juneteenth - Freedom Day - the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Black Americans were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
At CASA, our mission is rooted in equity, empowerment, and systemic change. Juneteenth is not just a historical milestone, it’s a reminder of the work that still lies ahead to achieve true freedom and justice for all. We honor the legacy of resilience and resistance that this day represents. And we recommit ourselves to building a future where opportunity isn’t delayed, and justice isn’t selective.

This is why CASA is so important to our Ocean County community. You see, we don't just want youth in foster care to survive, we want them to thrive! Let's keep working for those children who do not have a voice to help give them a better future.

Children who are navigating their way through the foster care system may have special education needs, but may not always receive appropriate services within the schools. CASA volunteers can assist with connecting children and families to resources, so children and youth feel prepared for school. It's a huge part of what our CASA volunteers do.

Reunified families that restore children and youth to their family of origin are an inspiration, because they have overcome difficulties and are equipped with tools to address future challenges. That's why here at CASA we recognize National Reunification Month every single year in June.

Some moments change a child’s life, not because they’re big, but because someone cared enough to be there.
That’s what CASA volunteers do. They show up when a child is navigating foster care, court dates, and uncertainty. They listen. They ask questions. They speak up. And in doing so, they help make sure a child is safe, supported, and seen. They Change a Child's Story. Learn more about becoming a CASA today at CASAofOceanCounty.org.
