🎭 2026–27 Season Spotlight: Aida

We’re thrilled to welcome Linda Brovsky as stage director for Aida in our 2026–27 season! With innovative productions spanning the United States and internationally — from Seattle Opera to San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and beyond — Ms. Brovsky is celebrated for bringing fresh vision to both classic repertoire and world premieres.

Her recent credits include Don Quichotte at the Canadian Opera Company, Rigoletto for Seattle Opera, La Bohème at Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and Il Barbiere di Siviglia for Pittsburgh Opera, among many others. She has also directed numerous world premieres, including David Carlson’s The Midnight Angel and Scott Eyerly’s The House of the Sevengables, and her talents extend to musical theater with productions like the 50th Anniversary National Tour of Oklahoma! and Carousel at Opera Grand Rapids.

Now, she brings her creativity, precision, and passion for storytelling to Verdi’s epic masterpiece, crafting a production that promises to be as visually stunning as it is emotionally powerful.

Audiences and students alike have delighted in works such as The Bear Who Couldn't Fish, Beauty and the Beast, Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, The Pirates of Penzance, and so much more! Each piece is filled with humor, heart, and a spirit of discovery that makes opera accessible and exciting for the next generation.

🎶 Meet Our Summer Intern! 🎶

Please join us in welcoming Jonah Hiatt to Toledo Opera!

Jonah hails from the Blissfield, Michigan area, and is an upcoming junior at Adrian College, where he is pursuing degrees in Vocal Performance and Arts Management. Over the next several weeks, he'll be working alongside our staff and gaining hands-on experience in the many facets of producing opera and serving our community.

When asked about his favorite opera, Jonah couldn't choose just one: it's a tie between Die Fledermaus and Pagliacci.

We're excited to have Jonah with us this summer and look forward to introducing him to the many people who make Toledo Opera such a special place. Be sure to say hello if you see him around the office!

🎉 Toledo Opera was honored to receive a $21,000 grant award from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of Opera On Wheels, our award-winning educational outreach program that brings live opera directly to schools and community spaces across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

This funding helped support our 2025–26 Opera On Wheels production, The Bear Who Couldn't Fish, which (in the spring tour) reached approximately 14,000 students, 450 educators, and hundreds of community members through 40 performances at 36 unique venues.

For more than 40 years, Opera On Wheels has introduced young people to the power of live performance, creativity, and storytelling. We are deeply grateful to the National Endowment for the Arts for investing in arts education and helping us expand access to high-quality cultural experiences for children and families throughout our region.
