Matthew 7:12 instructs us, "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." This is God's Golden Rule. And if we are to observe the Golden Rule in everything, that includes what we say. We must be careful to speak words of encouragement, hope, and truth to all who cross our paths.
Sometimes, when we feel uplifted and secure, it's easy to speak kind words. Other times, when we're discouraged or weary or stressed, we can scarcely summon the energy to uplift ourselves, much less anyone else. But God's commandment is clear: we must observe the Golden Rule "in everything."
So today, think about the words you speak and the tone in which you choose to speak them. Be sure you produce not only good deeds but good words as well.

From time to time, all of us face adversity, discouragement, or disappointment. But we need never face our troubles alone. God has promised to walk with us as we journey into-and through- our hardships. And we can Father to keep His promises. When we're troubled, we can call upon God, and in His own time and according to His own plan, He will restore us.
Are you anxious? Take those anxieties to God. He will never leave you or forsake you.

The preoccupation with happiness and contentment seems ever-present. We're bombarded with messages that tell us where to find peace and pleasure in a world that worships materialism and wealth. But lasting contentment is not found in material possessions; genuine contentment is a spiritual gift from God, and it's promised to those who trust in Him and follow His commandments.
Where do we find contentment? If we don't find it in God, we'll never find it anywhere else. But if we put our faith and trust in Him, we will be blessed with an inner peace that goes beyond human understanding. When God dwells at the center of our lives, peace and contentment will belong to us just as surely as we belong to God.

We all know that people can be difficult to deal with...sometimes extremely difficult. When others are unkind to you, you may be tempted to strike back - either verbally or in some other way. But resist that temptation. Instead, remember that God will deal with those people's behavior in His own way. Even though sometimes you'll want to volunteer, He doesn't need your help.
Let it go. Do your best to forgive everybody as quickly as you can and leave the rest in God's hands.

Life is a series of choices. Each day, we make countless decisions that can bring us closer to God or draw us away from Him. When we live according to God's commandments, we put ourselves in a position to receive the abundance and peace He offers to those who honor Him by obeying His Word. But when we turn our backs on God by disobeying Him, we create needless troubles for ourselves and our families.
Do you desire spiritual abundance and peace? God has promised to give you those gifts: simply invite Him into your heart and live according to His teachings. And when you confront a difficult decision or a powerful temptation, seek God's wisdom and His strength. He'll help you make the right choice.
