Yesterday was National HVAC Tech Day, and we want to thank all of the talented HVAC tradesmen on team Skillforce! While HVAC techs are typically associated with keeping us cool in the summertime and warm in the winter, this trade is also vital to keeping infrastructure operational. From repairing chillers that prevent server rooms from going down, to maintaining operational conditions in climate-controlled facilities, we thank this talented group of craftsmen for the important work they do each day!

Trench Safety Stand Down week is underway! This push, led by OSHA and the National Utilities Contractors Association, educates industry professionals on trench & excavation hazards and reinforces the importance of using trench protective systems and protecting workers from trenching hazards. By holding a Stand Down at your job site, employers have the opportunity to directly talk to tradesmen about job site safety and can reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries that occur each year in our industry!

A day of learning and making sure our job sites stay safe! Last week, our Skillforce leaders spent a day with our partners at Holder Construction to receive CPR training. This course is a must for all job sites and empowers our crew with life-saving skills, preparing them on what to do in the case of an emergency.

This month, OSHA and Construction Safety Week signed a joint partnership to promote total worker health, both on and off the jobsite. With over 1,000 tradesmen gathering at the National Mall for the signing, this new collaboration aims to prevent serious jobsite injuries and fatalities, as well as aid with other industry concerns such as mental health. Speaking on the partnership, Adam Jelen, CEO of Gilbane Building Co. and chair of the Construction Safety Week executive committee, stated: “We have one shared goal, and that’s to send everybody home healthy, safe and most importantly, better than when you came.”
