The public debut of the new Jaguar GT high-performance electric sedan won’t take place this year, Rawdon Glover, Jaguar managing director, told ABC News.

JLR had planned to show the production-ready version four-door GT before the end of the year ahead of the start of production next summer.

But the recent cyberattack that took down JLR’s plants and IT systems for a month, combined with an expanded testing program for all of JLR’s upcoming EVs, is likely behind the delay. Read more:

Infiniti goes full throttle: Nissan’s luxury brand guns for Mercedes, BMW with high-horsepower line.
Infiniti is eyeing the juiciest slice of Mercedes and BMW’s business with an ultraperformance division similar to their AMG and M lines.

The Japanese luxury brand is working with Nissan Motor Co.’s Nismo motorsports unit to develop low-volume, high-revving variants of current and future models. The project is in the advanced planning stage.

Infiniti will rely on Nissan’s engine portfolio to power its beast-mode models.

The mandate is to deliver “true performance,” not incremental under-the-hood upgrades, Infiniti Americas Vice President Tiago Castro said.

“It’s easy just to do another 20 hp, but how do you deliver 50 percent more horsepower with reliability?” Castro said. Read more:
