Cowboy's Legacy Scholarship Fund

This fund was created to honor the legacy of our beloved fallen Cowboys. Our mission is to support equestrians as we keep the Cowboys' legacy alive.

We help students with scholarships and support youths financially to compete in the LG Legacy Project. A cowboys life has a meaning more than just about tending horses or cowboy hats; it's a feisty attitude embodying the spirit of integrity and determination. Indeed it has much more than just about the horses, saddle, cowboy hat, or money. The thing is, sometimes there's trouble, and other times i

t's all funny and meaningless. A cowboy is a gentleman with or without his hat and boots. He is not just an average person, but rather a gentleman who has his heart in the right place and knows how to do his job with all sincerity. It is thus vital to honor and keep cowboys' legacies alive upon their demise. We felt the best way to appreciate their great deeds even when they are not with us is to impact the lives of other forks in the equine/rodeo industry. We started this noble initiative in March last year upon the demise of Colten Farley. His death was a tragedy to us all, and we were left missing him greatly for his affectionate personality and love for animals. He was a great friend to his horses and dogs as he loved interacting with them while training and riding. Colten believed that you should put your hand on your horse and your heart in your hand. We all know that training horses, heck riding horses, isn't easy. Failing is part of the process. It's how you brush yourself off and get back in the saddle that counts the most. There's beauty in the breakdown. Everything is about balance; that is what Colten lived for. Leading such a life would make Colten a grand champion bearing in mind that champions arise through a combination of luck, hard work, and heartache. Notably, Colten always left a lasting impression on all those he met, for he trusted that life is not meaningful except in its impact on other lives. Thus we felt he was a great hero worth to be remembered after his demise. Hence we established this foundation to raise funds for his memorial scholarship. Everything went on so well as planned, and the foundation got overwhelming support from the horse community. We wholeheartedly appreciate the stallion owners who generously donated breeding services. You are a great pillar of this scholarship fund. Joyfully, continue doing the same, considering that selfless giving is the art of living. We mobilize funds for the foundation mainly through auctioning donated stallion breeding services. In conjunction with that, the stallion services were auctioned to raise funds for supporting scholarships, events organized by Better Barrel Races (BBR), and memorial sportsmanship awards at events. Eventually, we awarded Cutter Hull his scholarship package through the LG Legacy Project, for we do not just award a kid with a scholarship only. We award them with the guidance and mentorship of renowned World Champions to learn how to be successful as a horse trainer. The aim was to impact someone's life and carry on Colten's legacy to future generations. After the success of our 2021 scholarship program, during the year, we were contacted by several other family members with interests to have their lost loved ones who were great cowboys honored too. Although we cannot include everyone, we resolved to strive to ensure that we add at least one fallen cowboy every year to the list of legends that we will be honored through this Cowboys' Legacy Scholarship Fund. This year, in addition to Colten Farley, we will also be honoring Legend Kell Williamson. The idea is to appreciate the lives of different fallen cowboys or rodeo athletes. We need to value their lives better even after their death, considering that to become a great cowboy is not easy. As a cowboy, life entails mud and dirt and cowboy boots. True cowboys are not afraid of getting dirty, and cowboys demonstrate the courage of being scared to death and saddling up anyway! Thus, it is paramount to keep memories of such great

At this juncture, we will have two scholarship programs; for Colten Farley and the recently added one for Legend Kell Williamson. We will continue honoring Colten as we continue including other legends from the horse community. Through the scholarships and supporting memorial awards, our general goal is to bring full awareness of fallen cowboy's life to the horse community. Funds generated will help with Scholarships and other financial needs for youths to compete in the LG Legacy Project. This move is to keep cowboys' legacy alive. Thus, we are wholeheartedly seeking your support for this scholarship foundation. Legend Williamson's story must have moved you if you ever heard about it. It was unfortunate to lose the 10-year-old boy from Lufkin who lost his life in a freak accident involving a horse at a rodeo competition in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was indeed an enthusiastic rodeo athlete with a great sportsmanship spirit. He would not care if he died on the saddle, acknowledging that he lived for rodeo. Martin Luther King Jr. once said that "If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." Even at his young age, Legend Williamson had a passion for team roping, proof that he had been a legend since birth. Legend was a competent equestrian and a devoted Christian who his parents trusted to bring many people to Christ. Thus, he was on track to achieving a real, lasting success as defined by not only the accumulation of winning but also by the manner of victory. It's not enough simply to win. It is considerably more profound if success is achieved with integrity and care. We chose to honor Legend Williamson to add solace to his family by supporting the continuity of his mission, which was to make a difference in people's lives. If one touches more people after death than he did before, then his life was worth it. The Legend Williamson scholarship will impact many people after his death than before, and thus the ten years the family spent with him won't feel like they were robbed of their loved one. We know that there are other endeavors by the Williamson's family to remember him, but we want to add to their efforts. Thus, we intend to include Legend Williamson in this scholarship foundation to honor him while carrying his legacy forward to future generations of students and the horse community. In the years to come, we will continue adding other horse industry heroes with the aim of keeping their memories with us forever. As we appreciate those who have supported us and enabled us to realize the dream, we also request your continued support. Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference. And community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm. Let's join hands in making this difference!
