The North Area Technical Team (NATRT) was formed in June of 1995 as a coordinated technical rescue training program for area fire departments. NATRT responds to specialized rescues in the suburbs north of Denver, Colorado and is made up of firefighters from: Adams County Fire Department, Arvada Fire Department, Brighton Fire/Rescue, Federal Heights Fire Department, Frederick Firestone Fire Departm

This week, the North Area TRT is training on structural collapse fundamentals, specifically breaking, breaching, and burning. Crews from Fire Departments across the North Denver and Boulder metros came together to hone their skills on clean and dirty concrete breach techniques, as well as torch cutting and weight calculations. These skills are critical in large-scale disaster incidents involving collapsed structures where people may be trapped requiring rescue.
