This morning, Christmas came early when the Georgia Emergency Management Agency hand delivered a $6.1 million check to Chairman Chase Beggs and Finance Director Pam Workman at the Thomson-McDuffie County Government Center. The funds completed the reimbursement of the $17 million Hurricane Helene debt the county has been floating for the past year. Many thanks to county staff who have worked tirelessly this year to make this happen and to state leadership for helping with this process.

Huge congratulations to Coach Rodney Holder on being named the 2024 Athletic Director of the Year for our region by the Georgia Athletic Director's Association! This prestigious honor is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and impact on Harlem High School athletics.

Coach Holder will be recognized at the GADA Awards Ceremony on March 9th in Athens, Georgia. We are so proud of his commitment to our student-athletes and the Bulldog community!

McDuffie County Animal Shelter encourages local businesses to become business buddies The McDuffie County Animal Shelter is seeking local businesses to serve as a "Business Buddy" for the holidays, helping pets find a home for Christmas.

Wilkes County Schools has implemented an enhanced visitor management system to strengthen safety and security across all school campuses. All visitors must enter through the front office and present a valid, government-issued photo ID to receive a printed visitor badge. An ID is required for entry into school buildings.
