Ages 13 & Up: Bill Wolfe is a nationally recognized painter and bronze sculptor with many public works located in Vigo County. Take a brief tour of Wolfe’s downtown sculptures with the artist and Dr. Crystal Reynolds, with a follow-up discussion about them at the Main Library.

Ages 7–17: Build a solar-powered bug-bot that jumps and skitters when exposed to light. Choose from stag beetles, honey bees, ladybugs, and more. Then color your bug, cut it out, and stick your drawing onto the solar cell. Take it out into the sun or put it under a UV light to watch it move! Kits provided by the Friends of the Vigo County Public Library.

All Ages: The United States is having its biggest birthday party ever—and you’re invited!

Find Vigo County Public Library in the Kid Zone at the Blumberg Shelter during Birthday on the Bash. Make your own foam Liberty crowns, party glasses, patriotic animals, or picture frame; snap a selfie signing the Declaration of Independence; and listen to guitarist Joe Wright play the greatest American hits. Pick up your own copy of What is the Declaration of Independence? while supplies last.

Try line dancing lessons from Judy Mullican and the Wabash Valley Activity Center at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Turn paper scraps, patterns, and vintage-inspired imagery into something new at The Paper & Paste Decoupage Club. Bring your own base or use one provided by the Library, then layer motifs, textures, and color onto boxes, trays, frames, and more to take home at the end of the session.

Ages 5–8: Dig up something delicious at Cookie Excavating! Use your cookie to map out an archaeological dig and record the location of some important artifacts—the chocolate chips! Once you’ve completed your dig, enjoy your cookie with a scoop of ice cream.

All Ages: Meet the alpacas at the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice! Bring a lunch, enjoy an outdoor storytime, then spend time with the herd.

Ages 3–8: Get up close with a group of caterpillars in the Butterfly Box! At each session of Books & Butterflies, spot the differences as they grow and change. Then settle in for a story and make a craft to take home. On the final day, find out if the butterflies are ready!
