Temple Fire & Rescue
Temple Fire & Rescue is an all-hazards emergency response organization serving the residents and visitors of Temple, Texas.
The department was organized in 1883 and consisted of two companies initially; The Blacks Ladder & Hose Company (H.C. Black was the foreman) and The Watchful Hose Company No. 1. In the past, the fire apparatus was pulled by hand power. Long ropes were attached to the hose carts, and on the alarm being given, the volunteer firemen and others would rush for the fire station or would take stands alon

The City of Temple has ordered the temporary closure of the Temple Mall due to unresolved fire and building code violations affecting critical life safety systems.
Since the mall was briefly closed for similar violations in 2024, the City has continued working with property representatives to address ongoing fire and life safety concerns. On May 22, the Fire Marshal's Office issued a 30-day notice advising the property would be ordered to vacate if the identified deficiencies were not corrected. Following continued inspections, those deficiencies remain unresolved.
The temporary closure will begin Tuesday, June 23, and remain in effect until the owners correct the violations and the property meets applicable fire and building code requirements. Dillard's is not affected and will remain open.

Week one of Session 2 is officially in the books, and our Junior Fire Cadets have already been hard at work!
Over the past week, cadets learned how firefighters use ropes and knots in the field, got a hands-on look at firefighter air packs and oxygen masks, and even had the opportunity to put out a training fire. We also partnered with Temple Police Department to teach traffic and bicycle safety, helping our cadets build skills they can use every day.
We've had a great first week and are looking forward to seeing what our cadets learn and accomplish during week two. Stay tuned for more highlights from camp!

It only takes a few minutes.
As temperatures climb across Central Texas, please remember that a parked vehicle can become dangerously hot in a very short amount of time. In fact, the temperature inside a parked car can be 20 degrees or hotter than the temperature outside, even with the windows cracked or while parked in the shade. Those conditions can quickly become life-threatening for pets.
If your pet can’t go inside with you, the safest option is to leave them at home.
If you see an animal in distress inside a hot vehicle:
☎️ Call 911 immediately
🐶 Try to locate the owner if it is safe to do so
🚗 Stay near the vehicle until help arrives
A quick errand isn't worth risking a life. Help us keep our four-legged family members safe this summer.

Rain is in the forecast this weekend, so now is a good time to stay weather-aware.
If you encounter water over a roadway, remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. It only takes a small amount of moving water to create dangerous driving conditions, and it's often impossible to tell how deep the water is from behind the wheel.
As the rain moves in:
‼️ Slow down and give yourself extra stopping distance
‼️ Never drive through flooded roadways
‼️ Avoid low-water crossings and areas prone to flooding
‼️ Use extra caution when driving at night
A little patience can go a long way during severe weather. Please monitor your local news and weather sources and stay

Not everyone gets to say they've climbed the ladder on Truck #1.
Today, our Junior Fire Cadets got a firsthand look at what it takes to work at new heights as they climbed the aerial ladder and learned more about the equipment Temple firefighters use every day.
It's experiences like these that turn curiosity into confidence and help inspire the next generation of firefighters. 🚒

The State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) is a free program that helps emergency responders identify residents who may need additional assistance during an emergency.
STEAR is for individuals with disabilities, medically fragile, and those with access and functional needs. This may include those with limited mobility, who have communication barriers, need additional medical assistance, require transportation assistance, and those who require personal care assistance.
Registering helps local emergency planners better understand community needs and prepare their response efforts. While registration does not guarantee specific services during an emergency, it does provide valuable information that can help responders assist those who may need additional support.
Registration is free and can be completed at stear.texas.gov.
If you think STEAR could benefit you or a loved one, take a few minutes to learn more and sign up today.
