If you're in a professional setting and you do video calls like how most people do it (with your face right in front of the screen) it creates a slight feeling of discomfort in others because it mimics the intimate and personal space.

Instead, push your camera back or stand back, use a microphone, and show more of your body and hand gestures. This is called the social space which is much more pleasant to look at and effective when it comes to communicating online.
