It is our honor to welcome Arizona teaching icon, Wardell King, to the Sun Devil Percussion Clinic staff!

Wardell is in his 29th year as an educator, arranger, consultant, and performer specializing in marching percussion. He currently serves as Executive Director and Battery Arranger for Vision Percussion, is a WGAZ Hall of Fame inductee, and is widely respected for his teaching, arranging, and commitment to helping students grow through music.

Sun Devil Percussion is extremely excited to welcome our final clinician, Aud Sherrill!

Aud is a percussionist and music educator from Arcadia, CA, who has been involved with the marching arts and music as a whole from a very young age. Aud has performance experience with Arcadia High School, Pacific Crest (2022), the UCLA Marching Band (2022-2025), the Blue Devils (2023-2025), RCC Indoor (2023-2026), and BD International (2026).

As an educator, Aud is finishing up a degree in Music Education at UCLA, and is currently an instructor at Santa Monica High School and ECR Independent for the 2026 indoor season. Aud hopes to inspire the next generation of performers and is passionate about fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.

Please welcome Saied Aguirre to the Sun Devil Percussion Clinic staff!

Hailing from SoCal, Saied’s marching resume includes POW Percussion 2023, Blue Devils 2024, RCC Indoor 2024–2026, and BDI 2026. With experience from some of the activity’s top groups, Saied brings a ton of knowledge and energy to this year’s clinic.

Fun fact: outside of drumming, he does carpentry and works on cars.

Please welcome Carolina Crown alumni and current Arizona State University Doctoral student, Matthew Sandridge!

Matthew is a second-year Doctor of Musical Arts student at Arizona State University where he is working towards a degree in percussion performance. Originally from Salem, Virginia, Matthew received his Bachelor’s in Music Education from Furman University and his Master’s in Percussion Performance from the University of Alabama. While at Furman, Matthew marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2021) on vibraphone, and has taught multiple award-winning front ensembles across the southern United States.

Beyond marching percussion, Matthew is a strong proponent for the creation of new music, is a passionate educator, and a frequent multi-instrumental collaborator.

Please welcome Sun Devil Percussion Alumni, Mikayla Szabo, to the clinic staff!

Mikayla’s marching experience includes Breakthrough Indoor (2018–2021), Sun Devil Percussion (2018–2021), Flux (2022), and Dark Sky (2023).

Her teaching experience includes Desert Mountain, Highland, ASU, and Breakthrough, where she continues to help students grow as performers and musicians.

Outside of percussion, Mikayla works as a speech-language pathologist in an adult outpatient clinic 🫶🏼

We’re excited to have Danny joining the Sun Devil Percussion clinic staff for the first time!

Danny Pendergrass is a world-class percussion educator who currently resides in Riverside, California.

He currently works with the Blue Devils and RCC Indoor Percussion. Danny previously taught at the Blue Stars and the Crossmen. He has also worked with various high school percussion programs, including Kingsburg High School, Hanford High School, Clovis West High School, Temple City High School, and Arcadia High School. Additionally, he’s served as a clinician for USBands and Marching Arts Experience and has had numerous private lesson students who have gone on to march in various DCI and WGI ensembles.

Danny performed as a snare drummer with Blue Devils B in 2016, Blue Devils in 2018-2021, and RCC Indoor in 2019-2022. He has also performed with Blue Devils Entertainment and Sidle Entertainment.
