Every year I send our clients a gift as a little token of appreciation for their continued support, and this year was no different! This year’s gift was a t-shirt emblazoned with the John Milton quote “Luck is the residue of design.” Its always fun to select the theme quote, and I loved this one because it felt like a cool statement to represent while wearing the garment. It’s so important when designing swag to design something the recipient actually would value and want to use! From my perspective, I loved how it reinforced the value design brings to the table in business. I used to print the shirts (and stickers) and I was floored by the quality of these shirts—mine has quickly become my favorite t-shirt!⁣

Hey y'all, it's Melissa here! Ten years ago this week, I woke up with a mix of excitement and nerves. I had been working in design for over 10 years as an employee during the day and a freelancer on nights and weekends, but the first week of December 2012 was different. It was the first time I got to focus on Strong Design full-time. No steady “day job.” No boss. No safety net. Just me, my trusty computer, and a handful of clients who had given me the confidence that I could make my dream a reality.


Today, as I celebrate Strong Design’s anniversary, I’d like to thank you for your support over the past decade. You have entrusted me, collaborated with me, referred me, and enabled me to build a thriving business that has helped dozens of other business owners make their dreams a reality too.

Our final project of 2021 was this website launch for .creek 🙌 We haven't posted as many website projects lately because the branding and ongoing collateral client work has been flowing in, but it sure was fun to dig back into Squarespace for this project and implant the brand we designed for Sundance—our favorite kind of project!⁣
⁣

Aaaaand, just like that this journal design is launched! We were beyond excited to get to help redesign her journal for the second time, this time to match her new prayer cards! Just like with the prayer cards, the journal features the same vibrant, hand-painted watercolor wash background that is featured on the prayer card box and card backs so that the two products would feel like they belong together. Andrea has been such a wonderful person to work with and did a wonderful job with the printing. We are so excited for Andrea and about how this project turned out!⁣

We always love the start of a new year! ✨ While it is physically possible to reset at any point during the year, there is just something about January that just somehow seems to make changes seem more possible. Last year we promised to make better use of this platform, and while we did post a bit more, we definitely didn't make as much improvement as we had originally hoped. So here's to another try. Keep your eyes peeled for (hopefully) more fun updates in 2022!⁣ 🥂

We've been excited to share this new project with you for a while! We got to help develop a deck of prayer cards that can be used to create a focus for your weekly prayer, or be pulled at random to provide a little dose of the love of Jesus. For this design, we got to pull out some of our skills out in order to create the vibrant, hand-painted watercolor wash background that is featured on the box and card backs, then designed the 52 different card messages to match 🎨 We leveraged typography and design details from the journal design we designed previously with her, and are excited to get to redesign the journal soon to blend with the prayer card aesthetic. Andrea is about the sweetest person ever to work with and did a wonderful job with the printing. We are so excited for Andrea and about how this project turned out!⁣
