📻 If you need another reason to be thankful for radio, here it is: On this day in 1954, Jessye Norman received a radio for her 9th birthday. And that’s how she fell in love with opera.

During her career, Norman’s voice sent chills around the world. Today would have been her 81st birthday.

Today is the 207th birthday anniversary of pianist and composer Clara Schumann!

Schumann made her official concert debut at the age of nine and over the course of her decades-long career she helped change perception of what women could accomplish in classical music.

Today we honor her legacy not just as a pianist, or music teacher, but as a groundbreaking composer whose music still captivates audiences worldwide.

KBACH’s September Cat of the Month is a classical-music-loving farm cat. Her name is Mel Bee, and she’s the new queen bee around here. 👑

Mel Bee is a hard-working lady, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have fun on the job. She spends her days with her chickens and they insist on listening to KBACH 24/7, so whether she’s lounging in the coop or watching over her flock, Mel Bee is always enjoying the sounds of Mozart, Bach and Beethoven.
