Temecula Eq-Wine Riders

Today’s annual River Romp led by Lita-BOD Member of FTC, was a fabulous ride followed by a picnic. The majority of the time we rode under a canopy of shady trees alongside the winding creek.

We saw bedrock mortars (milling holes) made by the Native American Pechanga people worn into large rocks to grind acorns, seeds, and other foods with a handheld stone pestle. Over many years of pounding and grinding, the holes became smooth and quite deep.

We were shown a new trail segment that will be opened, rerouting trail users around sacred Native American land. Lita also pointed out depressions in the rock where dynamite sticks were placed during the building of the railroad in the early 1900’s.

Don delivered the freshly made Dominick’s Deli Sandwiches again this year, he is now 95 yrs old and looking great! Those HUGE sandwiches are so DELICIOUS and made the perfect ending to a day out on the trail with our horses and friends.

TEWR 2026 Members Only (and sponsored guest riders) join us to “MAP A W**E COUNTRY LOOP RIDE” Tuesday 10/6 and Monday 10/12. We need your participation and expertise.

TEWR has been utilizing various trail mapping apps this year to compare features, ease of use, cost, effectiveness, accuracy, connectivity, etc.

Recently we were asked to map some W**e Country trails
to share with Temecula Valley Rural Lifestyles, who has hired an expert to create an interactive map for their website.

We believe this effort should be a collaboration amongst experienced trail riders who are willing to do the work out on trail, while sharing valuable input and expertise.

Juanita and Christy have been using Equilab’s app. Kathleen, who also hikes and runs, uses STRAVA, Jay uses another trail tracker app.

What do you use? Let’s work together to create some FUN, SAFE and BEAUTIFUL mapped rides to share with other experienced riders. 🍇🐴☀️
