Today is Tom Piini’s birthday. 🎂
As we continue to celebrate his life we have also been greatly touched by tributes and offers of flowers In lieu of flowers, Tom’s children request that donations be made in his name to the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County — an organization Tom proudly supported for many years. Indoor Ag Tech Veteran Tom Piini Dies at 71 Piini, the founder and President of Micro Grow Control Systems, built a company culture rooted in integrity, service, and a passion for advancing agriculture.

There is no easy way to this. We are heartbroken to share that our founder and president, Tom Piini, has passed away. Gregarious, people loving, whip smart Tom who filled so many with his infectious joy. He loved this industry, he loved his employees and he loved his family. He included many of his family members in his work and his employees felt like family.

Tom was more than an innovator — he was the heart of MicroGrow. His vision helped shape indoor agriculture as we know it, bringing advanced control systems and irrigation solutions to growers across the globe, from local farmers to world-renowned arboretums and flower markets. He was one of the first people to computerize environmental controls. Tom is a legend in CEA. He was just shy of his 72nd birthday and is survived by 4 children, 5 grandchildren, his siblings, many of whom surrounded him in his final moments.

Thanks to his long-planned succession, his son Chris Piini will carry on his work, supported by a loyal team — many who have been part of MicroGrow for over two decades. It is a testament to Tom that we have employees who have stayed with Micro Grow and Q Com so long.

We will honor Tom by continuing to deliver the innovation, quality, and service he built his life around. He would want nothing less. We welcome hearing your memories and tributes to Tom. Pictures are also welcome. ❤️❤️💔
