Presentations and book reports focused on nature and environmental science was a huge success. Our students taught us about microplastics, deforestation, albedo, overfishing and many other topics on environmental issues and caring for nature.
At EarthChild we focus on environmental studies while being fully immersed in childhood and the great outdoors!

Field trip to The Discovery Campus at Agua Hedionda Lagoon was a perfect addition to our unit on climate change. The field leaders led our students through an interactive workshop on pollution and the impact that it has on the environment and especially the ocean in relation to water runoff. Students played a game to support learning about the greenhouse gasses. The animal interactions were a favorite activity as they had the opportunity to hold a king snake and many loved feeding Cupcake the bunny. We ended our day enjoying a picnic and playing at the beach!

All of our students at EarthChild received a Coast Live Oak Tree from
We learned about this native California Oak and the facts on how and where they grow as each student took one home to plant. Can't wait to see our students grow along side their oak trees. 🌳

We have spent the past few months learning about the greenhouse effect, photosynthesis, the vital role that trees play, and global warming. We are excited to have the opportunity to give back to Mother Earth!

Sunflower study at the farm! We learned the anatomy and lifecycle of a sunflower as we had the opportunity to dissect sunflowers. Our students also planted sunflowers, painted with the sunflowers and fed sunflower seeds to the farm animals.🌻
Holding and playing with the baby ducks and baby chickens was pure joy . 🦆

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

At EarthChild we celebrate Earth Day everyday as we learn about Earth and Environmental Sciences on the weekly. Being fully immersed in nature is our daily rhythm.
The past few weeks we have been studying the greenhouse effect, global warming, and photosynthesis. Exploring through hands on experiments, games, and journaling helps us to understand concepts that can sometimes feel out of reach.

Rainy days at EarthChild make some of the greatest memories and phenomenal learning opportunities. We experimented with pinecones to see what would happen if one was left in the rain and another one was kept dry. We learned that a pinecone closes up when wet and some students compared it to themselves when cold they like to bundle up. We also compared catching rain water from out in the open area and another catching rain water from the dripping off the shelter. They came to the conclusion that the wind was blowing so hard that a lot of the water didn't make it in the bowl. 🌧️

Catching rain, playing freeze tag, creating acorn art, reading stories, making up songs, and singing were all part of our rainy day.

At EarthChild we are grateful to be fully immersed in nature as we experience the world around us, rain or shine! 🌦️

The past week we embraced the Harvest Moon and began learning facts and the phases of the moon. Students will be observing the night sky and journaling the moon every night so that they can document and experience each phase of the moon. 🌕 🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔

After our unit study students collected acorns, climbed rocks, and caught the smallest and biggest fish to date at EarthChild.

At EarthChild we spend our days engaged in science/nature studies balanced with free exploration time in the outdoors!

The past few weeks have been completely child led as we have had a lot of bullfrog babies in our nature space. Frog study has been exciting learning the life cycle, what they eat, their habitats, and of course lots of fun catching and holding them. We have observed their color patterns and behavior patterns. Some even getting named before being released back with their frog families! 🐸
At EarthChild we follow the interests of our students to foster the love of learning. 💚
