Because You Asked Part 2
🄿🄷🄾🅂🄿🄷🄾🄻🄸🄿🄸🄳🅂 !
You asked, so we’re continuing the conversation.
In this part of the series, we’re looking at phospholipids a broad class of lipids that help form the basic structure of cell membranes.
And within that umbrella, there’s a more specialized category: plasmalogens.
Understanding these distinctions matters, because membrane structure helps shape how cells are organized and how they function.
At Prodrome Science, we believe some of the most important health conversations start at the cellular level.
Swipe through to explore:
• what a phospholipid is
• how membrane architecture is organized
• and where plasmalogens fit into the picture

We have to agree with this one!!
At Prodrome Science, we talk a lot about supporting brain health and keeping your mind engaged is part of the conversation.
Read. Learn. Stay curious. Ask questions. Challenge your thinking.
So yes… the library absolutely counts as a workout.
How are you exercising your brain today?

Building muscle is more than lifting weights. It’s cellular.
Every workout sends signals throughout your muscle cells activating the processes involved in repair, adaptation, and muscle protein synthesis.
But what actually happens after that signal is sent?
In Part 2 of our Muscle Health series, we explore the science behind muscle protein synthesis (MPS), how your cells respond to exercise and nutrition, and the biological processes involved in building and maintaining stronger muscle.
Because understanding muscle health means looking deeper than what you can see.

Menopause changes hormones. But the biology shifting alongside them may tell an even bigger story.
A human study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology examined 216 women across premenopause, perimenopause, and post menopause looking not only at estradiol and FSH, but also at the lipids and proteins carried within HDL particles.
One detail caught our attention:
A plasmalogen dimethyl acetal marker, DMA 17:0, was associated with estradiol in the study.
That doesn’t mean one causes the other. And this research did not test plasmalogen supplementation.
What it does offer is another fascinating window into how hormonal transitions, lipid biology, and cellular membrane-related molecules may intersect.
There is still much to learn and that’s exactly why research like this matters.
Read the full research, then explore our page for more on plasmalogens, membrane biology, and the science shaping healthy aging.

What can lipid biology reveal beyond the conventional panel?
Join Dr. Dayan Goodenowe, PhD for an educational webinar exploring ceramides, sphingomyelins, and phospholipids and how these lipid biomarkers connect to membrane biology, metabolism, and the cellular systems researchers continue to investigate.

You only get one letter.
Swipe through the quiz, keep track of your answers, and don’t overthink it.
At the end, you’ll land on one of three thinking styles:
A — Creative Explorer
Drawn to ideas, imagination, and unexpected connections.
B — Analytical Strategist
Drawn to structure, details, and patterns.
C — Adaptive Thinker
Drawn to context, flexibility, and seeing more than one perspective.
The interesting part? Your result isn’t about being “left-brained” or “right-brained.” Complex thinking involves multiple interconnected brain networks working together.
So now we’re curious:
Which letter did you get?

ARE ALL BRAIN LIPIDS THE SAME?
Short answer: no.
“Lipid” is a broad biological category not a single molecule with a single job!
Different lipid families can vary in their chemical structure, where they are concentrated, and how they contribute to cellular membranes and nervous-system biology.
That distinction matters when we talk about terms like phospholipids, plasmalogens, and the lipids found in myelin.
This is exactly why we created BECAUSE YOU ASKED: your questions become the science we unpack next.
So, you choose the next one:
01 — Phospholipids
02 — Plasmalogens
03 — Myelin

Save this for the next time you think of a cell membrane as “just a wall.”
A cell membrane is more than an outer edge.
It’s a dynamic interface where the cell exchanges information with its environment, regulates what moves in and out, and helps organize what happens next.
That’s what we mean when we say:
MEMBRANES ARE NOT WALLS.
THEY ARE CONTROL PANELS.
Not a literal control panel, of course but a different way to visualize just how active the boundary of a cell really is.
And once you start looking at the cell through the lens of membrane biology, the science gets a lot more interesting.
What should we explore next: membrane signaling, lipid structure, or plasmalogens?

SAVE THIS because “𝐸𝓈𝓈𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒾𝒶𝓁” doesn’t mean what most people think it means.
When an amino acid is called essential, it doesn’t mean it is more important than the others.
It means your body cannot produce it in sufficient amounts so it must come from your diet.
And while leucine receives attention for helping signal muscle protein synthesis, it cannot do the job alone. Your body still needs all nine essential amino acids to efficiently build new muscle proteins.
The takeaway? Muscle health isn’t about chasing one celebrated nutrient. It’s about giving the body the complete set of building blocks it needs.
What surprised you more the true meaning of “essential,” or the fact that leucine doesn’t work alone?
