Opening TOMORROW! Passages in Time: Nancy B. Frank and Micheline Klagsbrun

Fringe Gallery is excited to present the works of two accomplished Telluride artists in its June exhibition. Nancy B. Frank and Micheline Klagsbrun are neighbors and friends who have been supporting each other's artistic practices for years, but Passages in Time marks the first occurrence of their works exhibited side by side.

In this duo exhibition, the visual language employed by each artist differs, but the common element that brings them together is time. Frank and Klagsbrun are both concerned with the traces left by time: weathered structures, worn surfaces, remembered histories, and emotional imprints that span generations.Passages in Time invites viewers to consider their own passages: the personal transformations that shape identity, the structures that sustain us, and the ways memories, however fragmented, continue to guide us forward.

Join us at Fringe to celebrate the exhibition opening tomorrow Thursday, June 4th, from 5 - 7pm during Telluride Arts' Art Walk. Both artists will be in attendance, and refreshments will be served.

Brazilian artist Sandra Frias is fascinated by the many colors, shapes, and materials that nature provides. Her Amazon Sun Ring features the curious gold-bearing quartz, whose veins represent one of nature's most fascinating geological formations, where precious gold becomes trapped within white to milky-colored quartz structures.

New works by Insung Yoon just arrived at Fringe and we couldn't be more excited to share them with you.

Brooklyn-based ceramic artist Yoon draws inspiration from the minimalist forms of traditional Korean pottery, as seen in her moon jars—traditional Korean ceramics that have a round shape and often milky white moon-like glazes. Originals were made with porcelain and date back to the 1600s. Contemporary artists, like Yoon, have branched out from this traditional look to create their own interpretation of this Korean art form.

"Moon N. 4" by Insung Yoon. Wheel thrown stoneware. 6" diameter x 6 in.

“My work is based in the natural world because that’s where I spend a lot of my time, combined with all of the emotions I feel living in this complicated (material) world. But the imagery I’m making is not specifically, literally, of either nature or my internal world," artist Judith Kohin says of her work. "I work very spontaneously and intuitively. I don’t have a preconceived notion when I step into my studio. It’s an exploration, a journey where I don’t know where I’m going to go.”

Kohin’s process, called “breakdown screen printing,” involves drawing, painting, printing and encaustic wax application.

"Every day I see majesty: rolling hills, big skies, long views, and jade-green rivers. Where I live, Nature is still unmarred by modern footprint, and its beauty takes my breath away." - Artist Sylvia Benitez

Krista Harris blurs lines between abstraction and the natural world. Richly layered and nuanced surfaces keep images and ideas in the air as if waiting to come into focus. Allusions to landscape and the figure, interwoven with pattern and line, collaborate to suspend a moment in time, something almost recognizable, suggestive of a place that is everywhere and nowhere at once.

"Here I Sit" by Krista Harris. Acrylic, charcoal, oil stick, crayon, and glazes on canvas. 48 x 48 in
